The video library will give you an overview of the videos currently available in the property. All uploaded and imported videos will be available for you to manage right here. In the following sections, we will show you the tools that you have at your disposal within the video table and video configuration screens.
My Video Table
The table shows all content, sorted chronologically by “Last Updated” date. You will also see the
video’s thumbnail, title, status, video ID and its creation/updated date.
Filtering Options
You can filter the videos according to status, tags, video duration and date range.
1. Status
There are three potential statuses for a video. If a video is “Ready”, you can use and embed it. A video that is “Processing” hasn’t fully been uploaded yet. A “Failed” video has encountered an issue and won’t be available for usage. To filter by status, click on the arrow next to the “Status” and select an option from the drop down menu.
2. Tags
Filtering by tags is particularly relevant if you want to narrow down the videos in the table by a specific topic or source. You can choose to display videos which include one or multiple tags. You also have the ability to exclude videos by tags. To filter by tags, click on the arrow next to “Tags” and start adding the tags you want to include and exclude.
3. Duration
Should you want to see videos with a certain length, you can use the duration filter. Click on the arrow next to “Duration” and define a minimum and maximum time for the videos you will see in the table. To filter by duration, click on the arrow next to “Duration” and start editing the time frame you would like to see there.
4. Date Range
The “Date Range” filter allows you to see videos which have been “Last Updated” in the time frame you define in the filter. To filter by date range, click on the arrow next to “Date Range” and get started.
Embedding and Deleting Videos
In order to embed or delete a video, simply hover over the item you want to select. You will see the icons appearing on the right side.
1. Embed a Video
Click on the “Embed” icon and you will see a popup appear. Choose a playback method and one of the embed options and copy the code.
2. Deleting a Video
To delete a video, simply click on the “Delete” icon. You will be asked to confirm your choice within a popup window.
Note: when deleting a video it will be removed from all playlists, the contextual matching library and every embedded player.
Users can also bulk-delete videos from the Voltax library.
First, select the videos you wish to delete by checking the boxes next to them.
Then, click on the "Delete" icon that appears on top of the table.
Keep in mind that the multi-selection only applies to the existing page within the table.
If users select several videos and move to the next page, it will undo the previously selected videos.
Select all videos:
Users can also "Select All" videos beyond the existing screen that is viewed.
Once done, all videos that apply to the existing table filtering (status, tags, duration, date range) will be selected
In order to proceed and make sure it's not done by mistake, users must check the empty box before clicking on the "Delete Videos" button.
Note that this action is irreversible.
Once the bulk deletion starts, users can view the deletion status within the component below.
Users can cancel the bulk deletion process by clicking on the "X" button within the component.
Note that if some videos were already deleted before canceling the process, they won't be retrieved.
Additionally, two bulk operations can't occur simultaneously.
When the process is completed successfully, users will view the "Success" message within the component and be incentivized to refresh the page to update the table.
Users can click on " View Failed Videos " if an error occurs in some or all videos intended to be deleted.
Searching for a Video
You can search for a specific video by using the bar on the top right. Search results will be displayed according to title, description or video ID.
Pagination and Total Amount of Videos
The pagination element on the top right shows you how many total videos are currently available in the library of the property. In addition, you can navigate from page to page (each page is limited to 50 items) by clicking on the arrows.
Uploading Videos
Click the “Upload” button in the top right corner. You can choose to upload the file straight from your computer or upload up to 100 videos from their URLs. To upload the video file, ensure you choose one of the following formats: .mp4 or .mov.
Unblocking UI
Important notes:
- Only the user who uploaded the video will be able to view the uploading progress status
- Since Voltax automatically downscales and compresses videos for performance, use smaller file sizes to speed up your upload process.
- If users exit Voltax, close or refresh the browser tab, lose internet connection, or shut down the computer - The following pop-up will be shown:
- Keep in mind that if users click on the “Leave” button (or “Reload” in case of refreshing the browser), the uploading process will be canceled.
- While a video is uploading, users are able to upload additional videos.
Video Configuration
This is where you can customize the basic information and metadata of each video. You can also specify certain restrictions.
Basic Setup
1. Video Information
Video name and creator name are mandatory fields which allow you to classify the video. Also, be sure to add a description to provide more context to your team and improve SEO results.
2. Closed Captions
The "Closed Captions" field contains the URL to the captions file that is auto-created (in VTT format) when a video is added to the VMS. It's not recommended for users to change/edit the URL.
It might take a few seconds or minutes, depending on video size, from the time the video was added to the library until its captions and URL are generated.
Video Scheduling
- Date and Time
If a video is outside the time frame you configured, it won’t be matched with any articles or display in any playlist.
Metadata
1. Tags
Tags are important because they enable you to enhance contextual matching results and arrange videos in playlists. Add the tag you want and press enter.
2. Category
Adding categories allows you to classify the uploaded videos in accordance with the IAB standards. Select the most appropriate option from the predefined dropdown list.
3. Custom Parameters
Add custom parameters to your URLs in order to create unique identifiers on the video. You can add multiple custom parameters to each video.
Restrictions
You can choose a preconfigured restriction from the dropdown for a timeframe for the video to be available. You can configure them in the 'Restrictions' section. Once a video is outside of the timeframe, it will not be matched semantically and will not be added to any playlist.
Note: single embedded videos will still keep working even if they are outside of the date range.
Thumbnail
If you’re not happy with the default thumbnail, you can upload a new one. By default, your upload gets a thumbnail randomly chosen from one of the video frames. You are able to change it with an image fitting the following criteria:
Format: PNG, JPEG, JPG
Size: maximum of 3MB
Resolution: maximum width > 400 px, maximum height > 224 px
Ratio: 16/9
Click on “Edit Thumbnail” and a popup will open, enabling you to upload a different thumbnail from your computer. The following restrictions apply to the image you need to upload: image restrictions: Jpeg, png, jpg; maximum weight: 3 MB; minimum dimensions: 400X224 pixels.
Replacing Video
You can replace a video by simply uploading a new file. Click on “Replace Video” and choose a file from your computer. Note: the thumbnail won’t be updated automatically when the video is replaced.
Bulk Updating of Videos
To edit and update videos in bulk on the VMS, follow the guidelines below:
- Select the videos that require editing by clicking the correct boxes that appear beside them.
- Click on the "Edit" icon that will appear at the top of the table.
Note: The multi-selection only applies to the existing page within the table. If users select several videos and move to the next page, it will undo the previously selected videos.
Select all videos:
Users are now able to select all the videos that appear on the table.
By clicking "Select All", the videos that apply to the existing table filtering (status, tags, duration, date range) will all be selected.
Clicking the "Edit" button will direct users to the editing screen. Here, users can add or remove tags and restrictions from all the videos that were previously selected.
Updating Tags:
Type in each tag you want to add or remove and click the "Enter" button.
Updating Restrictions:
Choose a pre-configured restriction from the dropdown that will apply to all videos.
Notes-
- Users can configure video restrictions under the 'Restrictions' Voltax VMS section.
- If no restrictions are selected, no changes will be made.
- Users can remove the existing restrictions from all videos by selecting the "None" option within the dropdown.
- To go back to the videos table, click on the "Cancel" button, or alternatively click on the "Back" button built into Voltax.
Once all the video tags/restrictions that require adding or removing have been filled, click the "Update" button.
Note: During the current "Update" process that appears, the same tag cannot be added and then removed.
Once the bulk update started, users can view the updating status within the component below.
The bulk update process can be canceled by clicking on the "X" button within the component.
Embedding a Video
Click on the “Embed” button and you will see a popup appear. Choose a custom voltax player and one of the embed options - Iframe, Javascript or AMP. Note: the Javascript embed results in better ad fill rates.
Closed Captions
Closed Captions are automatically generated for every new video that is manually uploaded into the VMS (both via Voltax's Platform or the WP plugin).
Regarding the MRSS imports, Closed Captions will be automatically generated for every new video that is imported as long as the import itself is configured to be hosted by Minute Media.
Once a video with Closed Captions is played on the Voltax player, the CC icon will be available on top of the player which can be activated by clicking on it.
Notes and limitations:
- Closed captions are not generated for unhosted or encrypted videos
- The auto-generation of closed captions for newly added videos applies from October 1st, 2021
- If the Closed Caption doesn't exist (unhosted, encrypted, or old videos), the user will get an alert that the Closed captions aren't available.
